New Beginnings

New BeginningsNew beginnings. We all face new beginnings at different stages in our lives. Whether that be starting a new school, university, a new job, moving abroad, these can all be very challenging times. New beginnings are scary and very nerve wracking to say the least, but at the same time these emotions can be mixed up with excitement.

Personally, I find new beginnings to be very daunting, especially as I have grown older. The idea of starting something fresh nerve wracking, although as I’ve grown older I’ve found that new beginnings are exciting too.

For me, starting a new job without knowing anybody is very daunting and nerve wracking, and I’m sure that I’m not the only one. But being the introvert that I am I was worried about making a good first impression on people because I would hate for people to think bad of me (although you can never please everyone, can you.) I’m very much a people pleaser as you might have gathered, but in this case making a good impression is important. First days of new beginnings are always daunting in new environments with new people, which is expected.

Although new beginnings are very much daunting, they are exciting too. It’s a change from something that you are normally used to and in a way it’s a new challenge for you to tackle that you may not have faced before. Despite the fact that it’s daunting, challenges are exciting and I’ve learned to see them in a positive light rather than a negative light. Yes, challenges are daunting. But challenges are there for your personal growth – so grab new challenges and new beginnings with both hands, no matter how daunting it may seem at the time. It will be worth it in some way or another, even if that reason isn’t clear to you in that moment of time.

When I got offered my job I was over the moon and I never expected to make it past the interview stage. Through positivity and perseverance I somehow managed to land the job which shows that a change in mindset really does make a difference, although changing your mindset is easier said than done which I completely understand.

As daunting as new beginnings can be, I’ve learnt to look more at the positives rather than seeing them in a negative light. New beginnings are a new start, a new challenge for you to overcome. Another challenge that shape you into a better person and lead to more personal growth.

  1. I have always struggled with doing something new, or something out of my comfort zone. I end up building it up in my head and then stressing about it. But I’m slowly trying to embrace new beginnings, and will try and do this tomorrow on my job interview. Thank you for sharing x
