New Year Resolutions 2018

BLOG4I honestly can’t believe how fast this month has gone, even this year in fact. This year has been a tough one as you may know if you have read my previous blog post on my reflection on the past year. I’m glad to see the back of 2017 soon and I’m ready to embrace the challenges that 2018 may bring! I’m not the best at making goals and sticking to them, but there are few things that I do want to accomplish in 2018, so let’s get into them.

Be able to drive

Over the past month I’ve just started taking driving lessons and in 2018 I hope to continue with the lessons. Not only continue with the driving lessons, I hope by the end of it I pass both my theory and practical driving tests!

Eat healthier

This year I haven’t had the best diet in the world, my eating habits have been awful. Over the past couple of months I’ve attempted to eat healthier but in the new year I want to make more of an effort to do so. There will be moments when I dip and eat unhealthy, but I want to keep those days to a minimum. No one’s perfect after all!

Exercise more

I want to exercise more so that I feel better in myself, both mentally and physically. I haven’t felt great in myself recently and I’m hoping that through this I’ll be able to feel better about myself!

Drink more water

This is also something that I’ve been trying to do over the past couple of months and it’s been successful for the most part. So far I’ve been aiming to have about 2 litres of water a day, more so whilst I’ve been at work, and I hope I can continue this into the new year.

Completely cut out soft drinks

This is a goal that I’ve wanted to do for a long while but I’ve never been successful, but it something that needs to be done. I know it’s not going to be easy but it has to be done!

My reading this year has been absolutely poor – I’ve read a total of two books which is abysmal in my opinion. In 2018 I want to read considerably more than I have been doing, I’m hoping to set myself a more specific goal of the amount of books on goodreads when the new year comes around, so take a look out for that!

  1. These sound like great goals. I also want to learn how to drive, that’s probably my top resolution/goal. I’m considering making myself post a new blog post every week? but i’m not sure! probably also will try to exercise because i have totally slipped behind on that. xx

  2. Thanks for the post, good luck with your goals, its amazing how much you feel better about yourself when you eat well, drink more water and cut out the soft drinks, it isn’t easy but very rewarding if you can achieve them. Good luck.

  3. All really good goals which I have every faith you will achieve 💕 I wish you all the best for 2018! I have some goals as well but losing a certain amount of weight is my main focus, here’s hoping the willpower kicks in… 😂

  4. Good luck with your 2018 goals! I can relate to the soft drinks one, because I have huge sugar tooth and although I don’t drink soda, I have a love for oreos/cookies and alcohol. I often eat healthy all day long and then get home late from work and have a late night snack and drink. I want to change that in 2018 because I feel like it seriously affects my sleep. Last night was my first night with no sugar or alcohol in a while, I just drank chamomile tea. It was hard, tea definitely did not replace the craving, but I believe after a while the cravings, so hopefully if you stick with it the soft drink cravings will go away!

  5. Great post. I’ve not made any resolutions for more years than I care to remember, but from this point on I will make an exception: to reduce the amount of plastic I buy/use and to be more ‘earth conscious.’ Good luck with your goals.

  6. Reading more, eating healthier and exercising more are on my list of goals for 2018 too! I also want to get more sleep, spend more time outdoors and more time “unplugged” and away from my devices (as I use my phone in bed 🙄). Happy New Year and good luck with your resolutions!

  7. Hi Ashleigh, I’ve just come across your blog while reading someone else’s and liked what you’ve written recently, so I hope it’s okay that I followed you.
    I too was happy to see 2017 fade off in to the sunset, it was a terrible year for me both personally & professionally. I’ve set some goals for this year that I know I will stick with. I hope you manage to stay true to yours. Have a great week ahead.
