With blogtober done and dusted, November is well underway. Although blogtober is behind us, blogmas is now just around the corner. Before we know it, blogmas will have arrived!
Before we dive into the blog post, I thought I would take the time to explain what blogmas is for those that may not know. Blogmas is the time of the year were bloggers post Christmas/Winter related content during December in the run-up to Christmas.
After throwing myself into blogtober, I’m also throwing myself into blogmas. If you are also taking part in blogmas, then you’ve come to the right place! For today’s post, I have some tips on how to prepare for blogmas.
Planning and writing posts in advance
When preparing for blogmas, planning is definitely a key element in helping you to stay on top of your game. The more that you plan the kind of posts that you want to go up on your blog, the easier that it’s going to make it for you in terms of staying organised and on schedule.
Alongside planning, actually writing posts in advance is also important in order to stay organised and on top of your schedule. Posting on a daily basis isn’t easy, so having blog posts ready to be published through the month takes off a bit of the pressure. I highly recommend doing this. I have a 25 blogmas ideas post if you want to get some inspiration for the month.
You’re posts don’t have to be festive related
Although generally, bloggers write Christmas/Winter related content during blogmas, you’re not restricted to this kind of content. At the end of the day, it’s your blog and you can write whatever you want for it. Don’t feel pressured to write just festive related content. I have other blog post ideas posts such as 50 blog post ideas and 20 LGBTQ blog post ideas in order to kickstart your inspiration.
Make note of your ideas
Have a look around at different blog post ideas that others suggest or brainstorm some of your own and make a note of the things that you want to write about. Whether you write it down in a notebook or collate ideas in a document on your laptop, this will help you to inspire you. It will also be handy when planning out your blogmas month and what posts you might want to go up at particular times.
Create a blogmas content calendar
After making a note of ideas for posts that you want to write throughout blogmas, it’s also a good idea to create yourself a content calendar. I only thought of this the other day whilst I was planning blogmas content. I have created mine on Excel spreadsheet, but you could also create one in your planner or bullet journal if that’s what you prefer! This way, it’s easier to see an overview of what blogmas posts you want to go up on certain days.
Last but not least, have fun
As much as blogmas is a challenge in order to post on a daily basis, remember not to put too much pressure on yourself and just have fun. If you don’t end up posting every day or sticking to a schedule, then that’s absolutely fine and it definitely does not mean that you’re a failure. Just remember to have fun with it!

I (somehow) completed Blogmas last year, but I remember it being a little stressful as it was a last minute decision and commitment and I was NOT organised enough, so tips like these are so beneficial.
great post!

I’m so very tempted to do blogmas, really wish I had the time to properly invest in it. I like your point about not every post having to be Christmas themed, as someone who’s not the most festive I find it’s quite nice to get a little break.

I am not doing blogmas this year and I admire anyone doing it. Planning and scheduling has helped me massively for my christmas content. Still not blogmas though, just twice a week! 😉
