Hello, and welcome back to my blog!
For today’s blog post I wanted to share with you some more of my favourite Netflix shows and programmes that I’ve been loving in the past couple of months. I have written a blog post with some of my favourite Netflix shows in the past which I will link here, but there have definitely been a couple of additions since then!
Looking back on my blog, the last time that I wrote one of these types of blog posts was at the end of January (which I will link here) which really doesn’t seem that long ago. As someone who doesn’t watch new films or programmes on a regular basis, I’ve accumulated quite a few, enough to create a blog post at least! So, let’s get into it.
“A space-time continuum glitch allows Vera to save a boy’s life 25 years in the past, but somehow results in the loss of her daughter and Vera must fight to get her back.”
This was such an interesting watch and I really enjoyed the plot of this story. It’s different from films that I normally watch, but if you’re into drama/thriller films then you’ll definitely enjoy this one too.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Season Two)
“This adaptation of the “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” tale is a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror and the occult. In the reimagined origin story, Sabrina Spellman wrestles to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family — including aunts Hilda and Zelda — and the daylight world humans inhabit.”
If you read my previous Netflix recommendations blog post then you will know that I thoroughly enjoyed the first season of this show. There was just no doubt that I had to add the second season as a recommendation too. I enjoyed the second season just as much as I enjoyed the first. I binge watched season two as soon as it came it and finished it within a matter of days and it definitely did not disappoint.
If you haven’t watched the second season yet, or you haven’t watched the show at all, then I would highly recommend it!
“Obsessed with an aspiring writer, a charming bookstore manager goes to extreme measures to insert himself into her life.”
For some reason, I didn’t include this in my previous Netflix recommendations blog post, but remember when there was a lot of hype around this? I don’t think that I watched this straight away when all the hype began, but I eventually gave in to the hype and I enjoyed it. Without giving away anything away, there were definitely moments in the story where I can’t believe that Joe did because of the way that he presents himself to other people. It definitely kept it intriguing though.
I’m hoping to read the book version of this at some point too, I enjoyed it that much (although I would have preferred to read the book first).
“When Belgrave University student Jack Morton joins a fabled secret society, the Hermetic Order of the Blue Rose, he is thrust into a world of magic, monsters and intrigue. Out to avenge his mother’s death, he uncovers dark family secrets and lands in an underground battle being waged between werewolves and practitioners of dark magic. Assisting Jack in the fight is Alyssa, a tour guide at Belgrave and fellow member of the Order, which is led by Jack’s estranged father.”
I watched this the other month and it’s probably not something that I would generally go for because it involves werewolves. Despite this, I actually enjoyed watching and I would definitely recommend it if you’re into horror/mystery shows. It’s worth a watch if you haven’t seen it already.
The Silence (2019)
“When the world is under attack from creatures who hunt their human prey by sound, a teenager who lost her hearing at 13, and her family, seek safety in a remote refuge. However, they discover a cult who are eager to exploit her heightened senses.”
I was intrigued by this because the actor who plays Sabrina in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina also plays a character in this film. At first, I didn’t think it would be something that I would enjoy, but it was actually so intriguing. I definitely recommend.
“When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing is certain — if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they’ll have to cover their eyes from the evil that chases them — and complete the trip blindfolded.”
I watched this last year but for some reason failed to include it in the previous recommendations post that I wrote, and I have no idea why. Again, there was so much hype around this film, but I’m not the type of person to give in to hype straight away. When I finally caved in and watched it, I absolutely loved it and I thought it was brilliant. It’s definitely worth the hype if you haven’t watched it yet.
I was kind of excited when I found that Sarah Paulson was in the film, that was until they killed her character off early on! Although it was no big deal, I loved the film regardless.
Have you watched any of these before?
Also, feel free to leave some of your recommendations for Netflix shows and programmes to watch down below, I’m always on the lookout for new things to watch (and I’m sure other people are too!).
