With anything in life, it can be important to take a break and step back in order to relax and regain your energy – whether that be for work, education, or whatever the situation may be. If you didn’t take a break, you will only end up overworking yourself to the point where you aren’t performing your best and it can be draining to say the least.
The same goes for blogging, whether it be a hobby or a full time job for you. You want to be posting content that you’re proud of and that you enjoy writing.
I found it hard to admit at times that I needed to take a break from blogging, especially over the past 10-12 months. My schedule has practically been non existent because of my lack of focus and my content probably hasn’t been the best that I could produce for my blog. I found my motivation to sit down and write difficult, despite the fact that I absolutely love blogging and the community that encompasses it. In addition to this, I also lacked the inspiration to write blog posts.
Why are blogging breaks important?
First of all, blogging breaks are important because they give you a chance to recover and regain your motivation for blogging again. You can take a step back for a day, a week or a month, depending on how much time you feel you need. At the end of the day, your blog is still going to be there, waiting for you to write your next blog posts. By having a break, whether it be brief or more prolonged, it can also help with the potential problem of burning out. Taking a break will help you with your mental wellbeing.
Taking a blogging break can also help with your motivation when it comes to writing regular content whilst also allowing you the chance to miss blogging itself. Taking a step back allows you to see exactly what you miss about blogging, why you love it, and maybe even the reason why you started blogging in the first place! You might miss the social side of blogging, you might miss writing and creating content, photography, or all of the above!
I know that I’ve missed blogging whilst I’ve been in and out of the blogging community. I’ve missed writing new content on a regular basis and sharing this content with others and I’ve missed being an active part of the blogging community. Now the new year has come along and after numerous blogging breaks throughout the past year, I’m ready to make a proper comeback to my blog.
Coming back to my blog after a well needed break, I definitely feel more prepared and motivated to write and publish blog posts on here. This time I know not to push myself too hard and I’m just sticking to two blog posts a week. That’s another important thing to consider when coming back after a blogging break – what are your limits and boundaries? How can you fit blogging back into your schedule without pushing yourself too hard?
If you need to take a break from blogging then go for it, whether that be for days, weeks, or months. Do whatever is best for you.
