For today’s blog post I wanted to share with you some Netflix shows and series that I’ve been loving during 2020. I haven’t done one of these types of posts in a long while and it’s definitely overdue.
I’m a sucker for finding a good show that I like on Netflix and binge watching every episode within days, then having nothing new to watch. I can’t be the only person that struggles to find something new to watch? My attention span isn’t always the best when it comes to watching new series/films, I can get bored really easy! Anyway, let’s get into the blog post – here are 4 Netflix shows you have to watch!
Orphan Black
“When Sarah witnesses the suicide of a woman who looks just like her, she assumes the deceased’s identity — and unlocks a world of secrets.”
I’ve just started watching this properly on Netflix and I’m pretty sure I’ve watched episodes of this years ago now. I’m honestly obsessed with the show at this point. Over the Christmas break I’ve managed to binge watched over two seasons and I just love it. I don’t want to give any spoilers away for the show, but you honestly don’t know who to actually trust in the show. I’m fascinated by the way in which the actress is able to play all of the sestras and well developed each of these characters are. Honestly, you have to watch this if you haven’t done it already.
The Haunting of Bly Manor
“The story tells of a young au pair hired by a man to look after his niece and nephew at the family country house after they fall into his care. Arriving at the Bly estate, she begins to see apparitions that proceed to haunt the premises.”
I absolutely LOVED watching this series and I literally binged watched it in a couple of days. To be honest, there’s not many jump scares in this and I love the story behind it that gives it that haunting feel. I love how this story was portrayed and I also adore the relationship between Dani and Jamie. By the end of the story, everything all makes sense and comes together so you have to be patient in that sense. Warning that the ending is sad though!
Ratched
“Ratched is a suspenseful drama series that tells the origin story of asylum nurse Mildred Ratched. In 1947, Mildred arrives in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind.”
I binge watched this series as soon as it came out on Netflix and once again I absolutely loved it. Sarah Paulson played the main character, Mildred, very well and I really enjoyed it. I love watching Sarah in the American Horror story series so I knew I’d love her in here too! It’s definitely worth watching in my opinion, even though I’ve heard that some people weren’t much of a fan of it. You don’t really expect things to turn out the way you think, and without spoiling the show I’ll leave it at that.
Locke and Key
“After their dad’s murder, three siblings move with their mom to his ancestral estate, where they discover magical keys that unlock powers — and secrets.”
I watched this before lockdown began and I really enjoyed it. I was a bit hesitant about watching this at first as I wasn’t sure if it was the kind of thing that I’d enjoy but I was definitely wrong. It’s a great show to binge watch and the story line is great too. If you haven’t tried this series out yet, then I would definitely recommend it.
Have you watched any of these series? I also need some new recommendations for things to watch on Netflix!
I’ve seen half of Locke & Key, and really need to finish it. I’m not a fan of horror, so will give Bly Manor a miss! Will probably give Orphan Black a try, though; I’ve heard good things about that.
